Practical self-defense skills rooted in traditional Japanese martial art, taught in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Throws, trips, strikes, and submissions.
Japanese Ju-Jitsu is one of the oldest martial arts traditions in the world, developed by samurai as a system of combat when weapons were unavailable. The word itself means "gentle art" - a reference to the concept of using an opponent's energy against them rather than meeting force with force.
The program at Old Town Martial Arts teaches Budoshin Japanese Ju-Jitsu, a comprehensive system that includes throws, joint locks, trips, pressure points, strikes, and ground techniques. Training is non-competitive and emphasizes practical self-defense skills that work regardless of size or strength. Students of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
